CertiLink · Portable trust infrastructure
The infrastructure for trust that outlives technology.
Systems evolve. Organizations change. Data moves. CertiLink is developing the foundational infrastructure to preserve verifiable trust, continuity, and control across them all.
Watch the 92-second filmBuilt once at the core. Extended across industries. Designed to endure.
The opportunity
You can move the data. Can you move the proof?
A migration can preserve files but lose provenance. A backup may retain bytes while losing the keys or interpreters needed to use them. A digital signature alone does not decide who is authorized to act.
The challenge is not merely storing more data. It is preserving the evidence, context and recovery pathways needed to evaluate trust across changing systems.
-
01
Vendor dependence
When a platform shuts down or changes hands, the ability to check its records can disappear with it.
-
02
Fragmented evidence
Signatures, logs and approvals sit in separate systems, with nothing that ties them into one judgment.
-
03
Custody transitions
When responsibility passes to a successor, a new organization or an heir, it is often unclear who may act.
-
04
Uncertain recovery
A backup keeps the bytes, but the keys, context and interpreters may not survive with it.

Platforms disappear.
A migration can carry the files across and still lose the proof: the provenance, the keys, and the software needed to interpret them.
“Platforms disappear, technology evolves, but your digital truth should survive both.”

Introducing Certi-Lock.
Certi-Lock is the core protocol CertiLink is developing: shared rules for custody, cryptographic binding, lineage and recovery that every application builds on.
“Introducing Certi-Lock, CertiLink’s revolutionary vision for substrate-independent trust continuity.”
-
Five pillars. One foundation.
Persistence, self-custody, authenticity, verifiability and recoverability. These are the principles the architecture is designed around and the research is testing. They are not a certification.
“Built on the five core pillars inherent to the CertiLink ethos: preservation, self-custody, verification, authentication, and recoverability.”
-
Rules that travel with the evidence.
Evidence is carried in portable trust cells. The rules for evaluating a claim are designed to travel with it, so a future system can apply the same rules.
“Through portable trust cells, governed by recursive state contracts that implement rules to travel across generations,”
-
No dependence on the original platform.
A deterministic interpreter is designed to reach the same result from the same evidence, without calling out to AI agents or relying on the system that created the record.
“a deterministic interpreter evaluates trust independently, without reliance on AI agents or the original platform.”
-
Recovery is a complete path.
A recovery only counts if enough keys and enough data can be reached together. The research is testing whether that judgment holds when parts of the infrastructure fail.
“Survivability quorums assess complete recovery pathways through authenticated state transitions.”
-
A count of copies is not a quorum.
When a tenant goes down, five keys aren’t enough if only one copy of the data can still be reached. The failure stays on record in append-only memory, and a second recovery generation is checked against the same rules.
“This is more than encryption, more than storage. It’s interoperable data handling, engineered to outlive the technology that created it. Independent, verifiable, persistent.”
-
Control changes hands by rule.
A handover is a checked state transition. An authorized successor goes through, a handover during an outage is flagged as degraded, and an unauthorized successor is refused.
“You hold the key to a lock engineered to endure. Certi-Lock,”
-
Same evidence. Same verdict. Offline.
With the origin systems offline, two independent interpreters on a clean host with no network are meant to reach the same verdict. Showing that this can be reproduced is the aim of CertiLink’s SITC research. It has not yet been proven.

The kill test
Switch everything off. Does the proof survive?
The moment CertiLink’s offline drill is built around. Every system that created a record is shut down. On a clean machine with no network, two independently written interpreters rebuild the record and must return the same receipt.

Our design principles
Five pillars. One foundation.
CertiLink organizes its long-term trust architecture around five principles. They define what the work aims to preserve and what the ongoing research must evaluate.
-
Persistence
Records and evidence designed to remain usable beyond the originating environment.
-
Self-Custody
Control and access authority remain with their legitimate holders.
-
Authenticity
Assessable evidence of origin, integrity and lineage.
-
Verifiability
Specific claims are evaluated against interpretable, portable evidence.
-
Recoverability
Defined, testable pathways for restoring the required information and evidence.
The pillars are design principles and investigated guarantees. They are not a blanket certification or a claim of fully demonstrated SITC guarantees.
The platform model
One foundation. Different worlds.
CertiLink separates shared verification infrastructure, protocol semantics, industry profiles and application workflows. Industry-specific rules can evolve without redefining the common meanings of evidence and verification.

A shared technical foundation could reduce repeated infrastructure development as applications and sectors expand. Any resulting network effects, cost efficiencies or scale advantages must be earned through technical validation and commercial adoption.
The research frontier
Researching trust continuity beyond the original system.
Substrate-Independent Trust Continuity (SITC) investigates whether portable claim rules, failure-domain-aware recovery analysis and authenticated state transitions can support independently reproducible judgments when infrastructure changes or fails.
-
01
Portable claim contracts
Rules for judging a claim, written to travel with the evidence.
-
02
Survivability analysis
Checking whether enough keys and data stay reachable across failure domains.
-
03
Authenticated transitions
Recording custody and state changes so they can be checked later.
-
04
Independent offline verification
Testing whether separate interpreters reach the same verdict without the original system.
